Malanathon - Part 2

 You can always count on Malan Breton to put on a unique show, today beautiful in so many ways, he does it again. 

 Today his show began with a logo and a song on the trumpet. The silence in the audience was beautiful. Then we kick it into gear. 

 Thematically very interesting; same fabrics crossing between male and female.

Suits of silk and glitter both embellished for each gender and tailored for personality for a very fashionable but wearable look. 

 Cummerbunds worn by women around their waists as belts were super sleek and different. 

Each look was extremely well made and well thought out. 

 My favorite?; that would be the white tube top dress with the tuxedo belt OR the Copper patent leather pants rocked out twice in the show-once by a woman and once for a man. 

 Work it Malan!

Malan by Malan Breton – on The Catwalk!

 Malan Breton is all over Fashion Week for Spring 2014.

On September 7, he showed in the Mercedes Benz tents.

On September 11, he put on another show in Metropolitan Pavilion sponsored by Style 360 and Fancy Feast. Nobody was sure what to expect from a show sponsored by cat food. Would there be feline companions for the models? Fur coats? Cat fights?

 None of the above (thank goodness). Though there was a fluffy Persian posing in the lobby and backstage, only men and women took to the catwalk.

 The show was characteristically Malan – timeless fashion and ageless looks.

Malan’s designs seemed inspired by mens’ formal wear, with tuxedo touches (cummerbunds, satin stripes on pants), a mostly black and white palette, and beautiful silks and brocades.

Leather and a few items in vivid reds and yellows were interspersed with the dressier looks, making the collection feel like it could be worn on the street (but only on a VERY NICE street).

 The final look was a stunner. The model strode the runway, wrapped in a voluminous gray and white cloak. At the end of the walk , she unfastened and dropped the cloak – which turned out to be a very long train on a white strapless gown. Think “Say Yes to the Dress” for a drama queen.

BPR at Malan Breton's NYFW Presentation

Tbone, The Scarlett and I headed to the tents on Saturday afternoon for a presentation from fashion genius, Malan Breton.

While in line we caught up with Second City Style's Carol Calacci, and long-time BPR reader and contributor, Rie Sadler.

The highlight of Malan's show was a beautiful soprano singing opera selections live!  

Amazing.

BPR Interview with Malan Breton

Project Runway season 3 designer, Malan Breton, updates us on his plans for Fashion Week and into the future.  

A highlight:

BPR: Are you living in New York?

MB: As you know I have been traveling between New York and L.A. for the past year.

I have just signed a contract to appear in a film with Taylor Negron. I am playing an attorney, a french attorney. I'll keep you posted on that.

BPR: Malan, can you do a french accent? (because naturally I would love hear it!)

MB: Actually I speak french in the film. 

... And also, I have just been offered another opportunity to star in another film yesterday. I can't say what it is, but you will see, it is one of the biggest franchises in the world. I have been offered the role of a villainous character. Please stay tuned.
